Cultural Awareness & Capability Training
"Brisbane Youth Service [BYS] works to create new futures for vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness aged 12-25 years, and their children. 33% of young people accessing BYS services identify as First Nations and it is imperative that the services we provide are culturally appropriate and safe for the young people we support.
We engaged Baringa from Yadeni Consulting [in partnership with Turrbal Dippil] who worked with us to ensure the training she provided was relevant and impactful. We are looking to build real cultural competence across our organisation and Baringa tailored her training to ensure it met our staff where they were at, built on previous cultural training, and educated our staff with real purpose and practicality.
Baringa was professional and approachable, her training style and delivery engaged a room full of front-line workers and both inspired and empowered them to confidently engage with their First Nations young people. We hope to retain a long partnership with Baringa and Yadeni Consulting to imbed cultural competence at BYS into our frameworks, practice and support of young people in Brisbane."
